Woodcut is a method of printmaking which spans from ancient China, the late European Gothic & Renaissance, German Expressionism to now. In this class, carve your artistic visions into birch plywood supplied in class and print an edition with versatile Akua Inks. You may choose to pursue black & white prints or multi step, multi color Reduction Relief prints if you're feeling ambitious! Printmaking in any method is a great way to turn your life drawings, sketches or photos into a truly original work of art. You'll come away with collector's quality multiples and a new skill that you can continue in any setting; these prints may be printed by hand with as simple as a wooden spoon or as fancy as our printing press at RGS. This method and our Main Street Print studio are non-toxic and solvent free. Please bring imagery you'd like to explore through woodcut.
