Julia Jensen, perhaps best known for her landscape paintings, has been living and working in Vermont since 1996. Recently she has begun working and teaching encaustic. In both her landscape paintings and encaustic work, she is concerned with the dialogue of internal and external, conscious and unconscious. In both mediums it is the development of layers that give the surfaces depth and illumination.
A graduate of Tulane University with a BA in Art History, Julia has been painting for 20 years. She has worked on her own and with many local and regional teachers and artists including Bill Hunt, Ric Campman and Julia Zanes. Her work has been exhibited and represented widely including at the Thorne-Sagendorph Gallery, McGowan Fine Art and Nantucket Looms.
