River Gallery School of Art provides a studio space in which students of all ages explore their creativity through the practice of making art.


River Gallery School of Art is based on the belief that each person has artistic and creative capacities which, when nurtured, will find unique and valuable expression. Through mentoring, the school provides the techniques to develop skills, inviting the possibility of art to become a vital force in one’s life.

RGS Covid19 Procedures

We are all navigating an uncertain new world and the success of our program depends on students, faculty, and staff working together as generous partners. We ask for your patience when things don’t go smoothly, and we ask for your help in sharing ideas.  We also request that you consult health and travel guidelines issued by the state of Vermont and your home state to comply with all current regulations:

Anyone who is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or has had exposure to someone with symptoms or a COVID-19 diagnosis within two weeks prior to arrival, should not attend a program at the school.  We have a flexible cancellation policy. We expect everyone entering River Gallery School to follow these basic prevention strategies:

  • Wash hands frequently and avoid touching your face

  • Wear a mask or face-covering in all indoor spaces and while outdoors if closer than 6' from others

  • Maintain a 6' distance between people, both inside and outside

River Gallery School classes and workshops are enrolled with no more than 10 people in the building, including students, teachers and staff.  

In addition to this, the staff will continue to follow these procedures:

  • Hand sanitizer stations with anti-bacterial soap in the entryway to the studios

  • Fans and open windows for increased air circulation in all studios

  • Studio access restricted to participants

  • Studio access by additional RGS staff only when necessary                          

  • Anti-bacterial wipes for cleaning shared equipment between uses

  • Increased frequency of cleaning bathrooms and high-touch areas
