Description
Portrait Painting in Acrylics with Erin McIntosh
This class is a great introduction to portraiture using acrylic paints. Some painting experience is helpful, but not required.
To paint the face more accurately, see it abstractly! Explore portrait painting while gaining more control over acrylic painting techniques in this six-part class. We will explore what makes a good photographic reference image, facial anatomy & proportion, light & shadow, and color to capture the likeness and illusion of form of our subject. Using an indirect painting method, we will build up the painting in layers, combining techniques including wet into wet, glazing, and scumbling. This class will include live painting demonstrations and will break the process down into a series of easy to follow steps. Each person enrolled will have opportunities for getting individualized feedback on their paintings.
Erin McIntosh is an artist and educator in Gainesville, GA. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of North Georgia. Materials can be purchased here -
