Leigh Niland received an MA in Printmaking at the University of the Arts, London: Camberwell College of Art in 2008. In 2005 she completed the Drawing Year postgraduate program on full scholarship awarded by The Royal Drawing School, London.
A Painter/ Printmaker, her art deals with themes of human emotional state as conveyed through landscape and the built environment.
On assignment in 2012, she traveled to New Delhi, India as Visiting Professor at the International Institute of Fine Arts with the Royal Drawing School. Artist in Residencies include Dumfries House, Scotland 2014, the Sanskriti Foundation, New Delhi 2012 and Chateau de Balleroy, Normandy 2008. Her work has been shown in London and at the 2009 & 2011 Venice Biennale with WW Gallery. Currently, she makes her work at Brattleboro Printmakers clubhouse studio in Vermont which she co-founded with a business partner James Primrose in 2014. Niland has taught Drawing at New England College and Printmaking at New Hampshire Institute of Art as adjunct faculty. Her work is held in the collections of the Teti Library at NHIA, UNH Museum, Hackney (London) Archive, and HRH The Prince of Wales. Publications include The Art of Dissent: London’s Olympic State (Powell, Guillemon-Morrero eds.) 2012.
