Description

Against a backdrop of meditative music, this day- long workshop is your doorway to the exciting yet contemplative world of Asian art! This workshop is for those interested in learning & using the traditional tools & techniques of Asian Brush Painting ("sumi-e" in Japan). Through step-by-step instructor demonstrations and hands-on brush painting projects, you will explore this ancient and elegant art form. Using the "Four Treasures" (bamboo brushes, handground ink, inkstone, and rice paper) we will work on methods for painting several versions of Bamboo in ink and color. Bamboo is the symbol of strength, flexibility and grace... one of the "Four Seasons" of traditional Asian brush painting and an iconic symbol of the Far East! Additionally we will learn how to create a delightful "guest" for our Bamboo "host"...a high-flying and inquisitive dragonfly. No previous experience needed. All materials provided.

Sat. 10 am - 4 pm
