River Gallery School of Art strives to make our classes and workshops available to everyone who wants to make art. We also strive to create a fun, engaging environment that is welcoming to all participants. We support our teaching artists with a livable wage while keeping our tuition and fees as reasonable as possible.
We are so glad to have you join us! As a participant in River Gallery School offerings, please note the following policies:
Payment and Tuition Assistance
- Tuition and class fees are due before the first day of the class or workshop. Payment for classes may be made online or at the office during our normal business hours.
- Payment plans are available when registering for multi-week classes. A 5% fee is added to payment plans.
- Materials fees may be charged in addition to tuition. Any additional fees are noted under class registration information.
- A non-refundable deposit is charged for classes and workshops. A small administration fee may be charged for classes and workshops that are offered tuition-free to participants.
- We offer tuition assistance so that your ability to pay does not dictate your ability to participate. If you cannot afford the full tuition price, please click the link on the registration page to fill out our request form.
Cancellation & Withdrawal
- While we make every effort to run classes as advertised, classes may be canceled due to low enrollment, weather conditions or staff illness.
- If RGS cancels a class due to weather or illness, we will reschedule. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled class, we will offer you a refund or a credit that can be applied to future classes.
- Withdrawal policy:
Our faculty and staff put a lot of time and effort into planning and preparing our offerings, so we ask you to please notify us if you are unable to attend a class or workshop for which you have registered.
- Withdrawal from class is refundable only under serious emergency circumstances as decisions to hold classes are made based on registrations.
- Withdrawals made more than a week before an offering takes place will result in a credit to the student’s RGS account.
- An administrative fee of 10% will be withheld from any withdrawal refunds or credits.
- Withdrawals made within a week of the class will require full payment.
- Fundraiser / Event fees are non-refundable at any time.
- Make-up classes are scheduled directly with the instructor noting that make-up classes may not be carried over from one semester to the next.
Vacation Schedule + Snow Days
- Adult, Child and Teen Studios follow our local public school calendar. There are no classes held during school vacation weeks.
- Most other classes and workshops do not follow the public school calendar.
- Click “View Scheduled Dates” on the class details page for the exact dates.
- RGS follows snow cancellations for the Brattleboro Public Schools. In-person classes will be canceled if Windham Southeast Supervisory Union schools are closed.
General policies
- RGS staff and faculty are unable to assist anyone to use the toilet or to administer medications. If a participant of any age needs help in the bathroom, other than for handwashing, or requires assistance with medication, they must bring a caregiver.
- Children under 6 must be accompanied by a responsible adult to participate in any offering. To participate in an All Ages workshop, children under 12 must attend with a responsible adult.
- RGS cannot be responsible for personal property brought to the school.
- We want you to enjoy your art! Please pick up your works of art within 21 days of the end of your class or workshop. We clean the studios regularly and cannot guarantee that art left longer than this will be kept. All art not picked up will be considered a donation to the school and may be sold or discarded.
- RGS cultivates an atmosphere of creativity, fun, support and respect. Bullying, belittling, aggression, hate speech, and other behavior that is disrespectful or harmful will result in removal from the class or workshop.
