Cameron Schmitz is an abstract painter who has a background in landscape and figurative painting. Her education includes a Master’s of Fine Arts in Painting from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting & Drawing from the University of New Hampshire, and studies in Art and Art History at Studio Arts Centers International in Florence, Italy.
Schmitz relocated from Philadelphia, PA to Vermont following an artist residency and staff artist residency at the Vermont Studio Center in 2006, and then eventually made her way down to Bernardston, MA on the border of Brattleboro, VT where she now resides with her three young children.
Schmitz’s work has been featured at various institutions including Fitchburg Art Museum, Northern Arizona University Art Museum, Green Mountain College, Kyoto Seika University, Emory University, Burlington City Arts and the Brooklyn Expo Center. Permanent Collections include Fletcher Allen and UVM Medical Center, Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, Wells Fargo and New York-Presbyterian. Recent press includes her work featured in Fresh Paint Magazine and an interview in a two-part series on the popular podcast, Savvy Painter. Her work is represented by Carrie Coleman Fine Art in Norfolk, VA, Davallia in Chester, VT, Northern Daughters Gallery in Vergennes, VT, and The Drawing Room Art Gallery in Cos Cob, CT.
