June 2024: Lori Schreiner
Caught in the Crossfire, A Call for Peace
Opening Show: June 7, 5 – 7:30 pm
Donations for the World Central Kitchen can be made at the opening of the show.
This show is a call for peace in the midst of dehumanization and hatred. It includes oil paintings of children harmed by the bombs falling in Gaza and Ukraine and Israeli’s killed or taken on October7, as well as children and adults lost to school shootings and other acts of violence in the United States.
Lori comes to this work because of the experiences of her relatives in Germany. Her mother and her family fled Nazi Germany in the 1930’s as they were politicians fighting Hitler and their lives were at risk. Many of her family members who remained were killed by cluster bombs dropped by allied forces on Dortmund, Germany in 1943.
These paintings represent Lori’s compassion for people on all sides of these conflicts. Her hope is that together we can make things better.
