Perhaps because members of her family fled Nazi Germany, and her great grandmother, her daughter and son, could not flee, and died in the allied bombing, Lori is drawn to paint portraits of those suffering in wars. In order to bear this sorrow, she paints the beauty of Monarchs and wildflowers.
