K. Curtis February 2023
ALL WE NEED IS LOVE! Is a collection of Valentine Works created by K. Curtis. The selected artwork shown illustrates the trajectory of some of the styles used over her 53-year career in the arts. She began making line drawings using a radiograph. Many of these images were translated into a line of soft sculpture mobiles which she calls stuffed drawings. The characters she invented moved into linoleum block printed designs. This period transformed into the Gouache and India Ink method which she still uses today.
The OPENING for the show will be held Saturday February 4, 10 – 2 at Gallery 34. If you would like to visit another time you may gain access by visiting the River Gallery School when it is open or call Kay at 802-258-7470 for an individual tour.
K. Curtis will lead two Workshops on the Gouache & India Ink method. You will learn a fun approach to making exciting and colorful works of art. We will focus on the negative spaces, creating our drawings with India Ink and filling them with gouache colors. You may bring a drawing you might like to translate into this method, or create something new. At the end of four hours together, you will come away with your own original piece of art, a handout of steps and materials and the knowledge to use this method on your own. All materials are provided. No experience necessary.
