Emerson Elizabeth Lord
Board Member
Emerson is a creator and builder who is happiest working with her hands, creating spaces and experiences that bring people together. Guided by a lifelong connection to nature and community, her work has ranged from designing retail and exhibition spaces to founding creative businesses including the Indie-pendent, a high-craft retail and workshop space, and The Learning Kitchen, an experiential teaching kitchen centered around art, food, and nature.
In 2024, Emerson and her wife relocated to southern Vermont in search of a slower pace and stronger community connection. She now works as a freelance consultant supporting small businesses with branding, marketing, events, strategy, and business development across the food, retail, hospitality, and creative sectors.
Emerson brings to the RGS board a hands-on understanding of operations, programming, and community-building, along with a deep appreciation for the creative and inclusive spirit that River Gallery School fosters in Brattleboro.
